September 2018 Monthly Meeting – Carol Arnold – Still Life Demo

IMPORTANT NOTE: The original workshop topic on alcohol inks for September is being postponed due to a personal issue. Carol Arnold has kindly stepped up to offer a free oil painting demo for us! This is one not to be missed!

Our September 2018 monthly meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 18th from 6:30-9pm.

This meeting and workshop is free and open to the public. No experience is necessary. The fun of our workshops is that we all try new things we’ve never done before.

Our meetings cover BVAA organization business from 6:30-7:00pm and then go into the workshop part of the evening.

All are welcome – this workshop is open to members and non-members. Feel free to bring along a friend! We’d love to see you there to try some new things and explore your creativity!

Festival Time! Hopedale Day in the Park 2018 – Sept 15 2018

The 29th Annual Hopedale Day in the Park is on Saturday September 15th, 2018! The festival runs from 10am to 4pm.

There is a music stage, food stations, games, laughter, an art show, and lots of booths celebrating crafts! It’s fun for the entire family!

The Blackstone Valley Art Association regularly gets a booth at this festival in order to promote our artwork and membership. We’ll be here in 2018!

In addition, the Hopedale Cultural Council sponsors a HUGE art show at this event, under a big white tent. Many of our members routinely win prizes. Here’s an image from 2017 when our member Libia Goncalves won first prize.

Bring out family and friends to enjoy this fun event!

Our schedule for our BVAA booth is:

Pam and Carol will help set up but need to leave by 10am. Lisa Shea will be there all day but will be sharing her time between this booth and Karen Pendleton’s booth (just a few booths away).

Open Paint – Sat Sept 15 2018

If you’re interested in painting, drawing, and illustrating, we have the perfect Saturday lined up! It’ll be a great time with laughter, conversation, creativity, and the space to stretch out! It’s an open paint! All are welcome, including the public, family, and friends! It’s free!

If the weather is nice out, we’ll also do an Uxbridge sketch walk. We have the maps all ready. We just need some sunshine!

It’s completely free to participate in the open paint. You can bring your own paints or we’ll have watercolors and brushes to share.

Show of Hands Final Deadline Mon Sept 3

The gallery is painted! Hurrah! That means we can now take in artwork for the Show of Hands show! Please make sure you submit your titles and prices by MONDAY NIGHT SEPTEMBER 3rd 2018 so we can get the titles and prices set. Then make sure you get your artwork in by Wednesday September 5th by 4:30pm so we can hang the show!

Let us know if you need any help with either step! Share the news with family and friends – this show is open to the public!

When you drop your work off, please make sure the back of your work is labelled with your artist name, the work’s title, medium, and price. That way we can double-check that everything is right and that we put the right label with the right work. Thanks!
