Date Change! Milford TV swap on WED!! Nov 2nd!

Due to a out-of-building project by the Milford TV people, they’d like us to come on Wednesday rather than Thursday. So our swap-out-reception at Milford TV for the Small Works show will be this Wednesday, November 2nd from 6-8pm. If you can’t make it Wed just bring things by any time this week during their open hours – you can call ahead to see what those are on a given day. Sorry about the last minute notice and hope to see you there – we have fun conversations!

Alternatives Craft Fair – Dec 13 2016

event-2016-12-craft

This craft fair is primarily for the Alternatives employees as a thank-you for all their hard work. it is on Tuesday, December 13th, 2017 from 11-4pm.

The BVAA has a free table there which is intended for small crafts, prints, cards, and similar items.

There is no fee to participate and no commission charged for this.

Our monthly meeting for November is on Tuesday, November 15th, 2016 at the Northbridge Senior Center. Our meetings run from 6:30 to 9pm. The first half hour is typically a review of upcoming events and business matters, and then the art portion begins at 7pm.

This month we’ll be exploring the wonderful world of fabric arts! Our very own Muriel Funka will show us a variety of techniques.

Explore your creativity!

Our BVAA monthly meetings are open to the public and are supported in part by grants by the Local Cultural Council.

Claflin Hill Holiday Pops 2016

event-2016-12-concert

The BVAA, in conjunction with the Claflin Hill Symphony Orchestra, is offering a fun night of art and music! The orchestra provides the music while the BVAA provides the art!

On Saturday, December 10, 2016 from 7:30-10:00pm the Claflin Hill Symphony Orchestra will be performing a show. The BVAA will have art up for patrons to enjoy before the show and during intermission. This is an art-loving audience and we see good sales at these shows.

Deadline to submit your titles and sizes via the online form is Monday, December 5th. This gives us time to determine how many panels will be needed. There’s no fee to participate and the show is open to all BVAA members. Anne will then respond back to everyone with a copy of the labels to proof and approve. If you don’t submit your information by Monday night you may still be able to participate, but your labels might not be proofed.

BVAA Online Submission Form

Drop-Off for the show will be Friday, December 9th from 4-6pm. Everything will be set up Friday night so it’s ready to go for Saturday. If you can’t make it on Friday, you can drop off Thursday during their open hours. Just put the artwork up in the performance hall. We’ve never had any issue with items being left there.

Pick-up will be Sunday morning from 8-10am. If you can’t make that, email us to make other arrangements.

We need volunteers to help us hang the show from 5-6 on Friday and to take it down at 8:30 on Sunday. Please let us know if you’re available. There is a 20% commission on sales which will be forgiven for those who help out!

Participating artists get free entry to enjoy the show! Note that the Holiday Pops tends to SELL OUT so tell us soon if you’re interested in attending the music!

The music being performed will be:

“Join us for everyone’s favorite holiday tradition featuring timeless classics like “Sleigh Ride,” “Stille Nacht,” a holiday sing-along and a visit from Jolly ol’ St. Nick! Let’s ring in the holidays together! The Greater Milford Community Chorus, under the direction of Daniel Zabinski, joins CHSO for their second year! Featuring soloists Emily Shaner and Zachary Surapine.”

We should aim to bring the best art in our libraries, to match the high quality of the performance. That being said, if you have two great pieces and one features a holiday theme then that might be a perfect one to choose!
