Field Trip to Greyscale Art Show
Reminder! On Tuesday, January 5th the BVAA is hosting a field trip to the Greyscale Art Show at the Aurora Gallery in Worcester Massachusetts. The gallery will be specially open for us between 3-4pm on Tuesday.

The historic Aurora building is on 660 Main Street, Worcester, MA. You can park on the street or, if that’s full, go down Ionic Avenue which is nearly immediately across the street from the Aurora. About a half-block down on the right is a big parking lot behind the Masonic building – you can park there. Don’t park in the lot ON Main Street – that’s a private lot.

A Night In Blue
The Sprinkler Factory art gallery in Worcester Massachusetts will be celebrating all the glory of the color blue on Saturday, January 23rd. The reception begins at 7pm and the suggested donation is $10.
There will be cyanotypes, music from the group “Cyantype,” and even blue-themed food! Plus a disco dance party.

Fourth National Monotype/Monoprint Juried Exhibition
The Attleboro Arts Museum in conjunction with the Monotype Guild of New England is having their Fourth National Monotype/Monoprint Juried Exhibition from April 6th to May 7th, 2016. There will be $1800 in prizes awarded.
Entry fees are $30 for MGNE members and $45 for non-members for up to 3 works. The prints entered must have been created in the past five years. Entries are done online.
The deadline to submit is February 1, 2016.

The Art of Printmaking
The Alternatives Whitinsville location is showcasing “The Art of Printmaking” from January 8 to February 26, 2016.
The opening reception is Friday, January 8th from 4-7:30pm. It will feature live demonstrations, wine and cheese, and discussion with the artists.
The printmaking techniques showcased include woodcut, engraving, etching, collagraphy, lithography, monoprint, and even some experimental techniques.
The image shown is “Stacked Cards” by artist Lunita Shimizu.
The Alternatives gallery is at 50 Douglas Road, Whitinsville, MA.

4th Annual Alternatives Art Palette Contest
It’s here! It’s here! It’s time for the 4th Annual Alternatives Art Palette Contest! This is always a fun out-of-the-box creativity challenge.
Here’s how it works. You pay a $14 entry fee and you pick up, from the Alternatives Whitinsville location, a standard wood 16″ x 20″ palette.

You need to pick that up by February 19, 2016.
Now you have until Friday, February 26th to drop your finished palette off at Alternatives.
The show is March 4 to April 29 2016. The reception is Friday, March 4 from 4-8pm.
Here’s the brochure with information. Note that some copies of this brochure mistakenly have other dates for the drop-off. The February 26, 2016 date is the correct one.

Snapshot in Time – Davis Art Gallery
The Davis Art Gallery in the Printer’s Building in Worcester, MA has a call to artists out for “Snapshot in Time.”
The deadline to submit is January 22, 2016.
This is all about still life variations in 2D and 3D, in traditional and contemporary styles. Mix it up!
The show is February 12 to May 20, 2016.
Opening reception is Thursday, February 11, 2016.

Through My Eyes Photography Show
The Gallery 4 in Rockland, Massachusetts is having its Through My Eyes Photography Show.
Drop-off is in person on Jan 15th and 16th 2016 from 12-4pm.
The show runs January 22nd to February 26th.
Pickup is then Feb 26th and 27th from 12-4pm.
Entry fee is $10 each or $25/3 entries.
This is solely a photography show.

What Have We Got to Lose?
Mass Audubon’s Moose Hill Gallery’s latest juried exhibit is entitled “What Have We Got to Lose?” The deadline is February 11, 2016.
The images should focus on what climate change might cause us to lose.
The jurors are Diana Hampe and Claudia Michael.
For the jury process, they want PRINT IMAGES ONLY (i.e. no mats, no frames, no anything else). This is to let the judges judge everything fairly. There are no online submissions. They need to be mailed in or dropped off. The reviewing fee is $15 for up to 5 images. If you are chosen then they’ll contact you for the actual finished / framed artwork.
