event-2016-12-chainlights

The Millbury Chain of Lights takes place on Sunday, December 4th, 2016! The time is 11-4pm. The BVAA will be offering artwork at the Millbury Public Library. Bin art and cards do well here!

There is no fee for BVAA members to participate!

Drop-off to set up will be Friday 12/2 from 4 to 5:45pm. That way we don’t have worry about it on Saturday when we have the Atria show running. And pickup is Sunday 12/4 at 3:45 as they are closing up for 4pm.

Please use the online submission form to submit your entries – they need to be in by MONDAY NOVEMBER 28 2016! You don’t need to use the form for bin art and other smaller stuff – just the hanging items.

event-2016-11-shopsmall

The Shop Small Saturday is on Saturday, November 26th, 2016!

The Blackstone Valley Art Association is supporting the Shop Small effort with an art show at the Alternatives location in Whitinsville, MA.

Come on by from 10-4pm – we’ll be offering bin art, cards, small art items, and even Santa!

All are welcome!

50 Douglas Road

Whitinsville, MA

For BVAA members – if you intend to show artwork or have bin art / etc. at this show please email us with a general count of items. That way we know how to arrange table space and panels to handle it.

For hanging items or for things to drop off early, you can do that on Wednesday from 9-4 – call Carol F. to coordinate a time. Her phone number is in the 11/22/16 newsletter. They can also do Friday if necessary. Pickup for those who aren’t there in person will be that afternoon 12/26 from 4-5pm as tables are taken down. Ask if you need help on that end.

Thanks!

Milford TV Nov-Dec 2016 – Small Works

Every two months we rotate the show at the Milford TV Station. The drop-off for the upcoming November-December 2016 show on the theme of “Small Works” is WEDNESDAY!!! November 2nd from 6-8pm. We get sales here during the holiday season from locals coming in for quick last-minute gifts. So small and relatively inexpensive works well!

This date is also the reception (and take down) for the existing “Cities” show. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend!

Please bring food or drink to share!

The Milford TV Station is at 138 South Main Street.

https://www.milfordtv.net/

The Milford people do the labels and hanging for us, so there is no need to use our online submission form to indicate what you’re bringing. Simply be sure to label the back of each piece with its title, your name, and the price. Milford does not take any commission on sales.

If you can’t make it on the 2nd just drop off your works any time during the week that they’re open. Call ahead to check the hours!

This show is for BVAA members only and is free to participate in. Most artists bring in three items but if you have more that’s great! In general, the items can be any size or shape – Milford has a great hanging system which can accommodate pretty much anything. That being said, for this particular show it’s small works for quick sales!

Gelli Monoprints at Monthly Meeting

event-2016-10-monthly

Our monthly meeting for October is on Tuesday, October 18th, 2016 at the Northbridge Senior Center.

This month we’ll be playing with a hands-on demo and workshop in Gelli printing! These monoprints use acrylic paint and let you make one-off creations.

Wear clothes that can get a big messy and prepare for fun!

We did a number of hands-on workshops last year with Gelli plates and everyone had a blast. In essence these are the same things as gelatin plates that you can make yourself but they last longer and oddly they are even cheaper to buy than to make in most cases.

Lisa has a number of books on Gelli printing that she’ll bring to lend out.

Here’s photos from one of our previous smaller workshops –
