2018 Alternatives Palette Show

The 6th Annual Art Palette Contest
Call for artists!

Transform wooden art palettes into works of art! Entries will be on display in the Heritage Gallery from March 9 – April 27, 2018.

Cash prizes will be given to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in three age categories.

All ages and abilities are welcome and encouraged to participate!

Art palettes are available in the Gallery until February 23, 2018. The final drop-off must be done by Friday, March 2, 2018.

Worcester State University Open Art Call – Time Machines

Open Art Call – Time Machines
Worcester State University and the Mary Cosgrove Dolphin Gallery invite you to submit artwork to TIME MACHINES opening February 8, 2018.

All artworks are time machines: they are machines of time, memory, dreams and nightmares. This exhibition solicits work by artists in any media that reflects any aspect of time: personal, historical, cosmological, past and future, real and imagined. All work must be done in the last three years and not submitted to the Mary Cosgrove Dolphin Gallery for previous shows.

Prizes awarded:
First Prize, $300, Second Prize $200, Third Prize, $150.

Submit artwork by Dec. 1, 2017 to https://Worcester.edu/OpenArtCall. No more than 30 lbs, not to exceed 60 in. in one dimension. Submit images in jpg, png, 1200 pixels in the longest side, highest quality for jpg or png. Video submissions in mov or mp4 formats. Submission style: Last name_First_Title

The Gallery reserves the right to reject work that is not as represented. The Gallery commission is 25% on sales.

Joy of Art – Call to Artists 2017

The Scantic River Artists are hosting a juried show “Joy of Art”!

Dates: October 14-15, 2017

Hampden Senior Center

They are accepting a variety of art styles from watercolor, oil, and acrylic to photography, pastel, and sculpture.

Entry fees are $25 or one or $35 for up to 3. You bring the money when you bring your art in for drop-off.

They take a 10% commission.

Drop-off is:

Sept 21 5-7pm
Sept 22 9-3pm
Sept 23 10-noon

Note that they do NOT hang everything brought in. If your work is not accepted, you pick it back up again on Oct 6-7 from 9-3.

The reception is October 14th from 12-2pm.

Guidelines

Bring Your Favorite Bird Photos, Paintings, Sculpture to House of Art – 8:30 – 11am, 200 Main Street, Monson, MA. All work should be wired to hang safely.

Sign up for our Popup Bird Show – $5 Registration Fee for up to 3 entries. Work will be hung immediately for show that weekend. All work entered will be hung. You may offer your work for sale. 20% of all sales will go to Monson Arts Council.

A sign up form may be downloaded here. It also contains ID tags (below) to fill out for placement on the wall with your work.

Show will open on Saturday, September 23rd from 2- 5pm. Potluck – Appetizers – Party/Reception Will be Held on Sunday, September 24 from Noon – 5pm.

Prize Winners Selected by a noted local artist will be recognized with ribbons Prizes: First Place, 2nd Place, 3rd Place and Honorable Mentions will be awarded. Ribbons will be awarded (no monetary award.)

Following the party, entrants will take their work home: 5-6pm.

The entry fee is $5.00 for up to three (3) works. Checks should be payable to Monson Arts Council. Entry fees are non-refundable UNLESS we receive work after our exhibition space is full.

Uniquely Uxbridge 2017 Celebration

The BVAA has an art show in a gallery right on Main Street in Uxbridge, so it makes sense for us to be part of the huge celebration of Uniquely Uxbridge day! It’s on Saturday, September 2nd from 9am to 2pm on the town common. There’ll be raffles, music, art, vendors, games, and much, much more!

The Blackstone Valley Xpress and Yankee Xpress are having a rose flower photography contest throughout the “summer months” of 2017. No specific deadline is listed but the prizes will be announced in the September editions of the paper, so presumably before September ;).

Art & Music Makers Festival

Alternatives is holding their second annual Art & Music Makers Festival on Saturday, September 9th from 10am to 3pm.

This fun event will showcase a wide variety of crafters, artists, musicians, demos, food trucks, and more!

It’s held at the Whitinsville location, so at:

This is not a BVAA event but the BVAA plans to have a table here to showcase our works.
