Last Call! Anything Goes!

It’s the last call for our upcoming Anything Goes photography show! The show is open to all adults of all levels of photography.

We have two halves of this show. One half is open to anything and everything photography related. The other half is focused on film photography – anything from pinhole cameras to Holgas to 35mm to cyanotypes. Enter one or both aspects of the show!

Deadline is Monday, January 11th, 2016 at midnight. Make sure you get your online submissions in by then!

Photo shown is last year’s second prize winner by Al Weems.

Claflin Hill – From the Heart

The BVAA, in conjunction with the Claflin Hill Symphony Orchestra, is offering a fun night of art and music! The orchestra provides the music while the BVAA provides the art!

On Saturday, February 6th from 7:30-10pm the Claflin Hill Symphony Orchestra will be performing a show. The BVAA will have art up for patrons to enjoy before the show and during intermission.

Deadline to submit your titles and sizes via the online form is Monday, February 1st. This gives us time to determine how many panels will be needed. There’s no fee to participate.

BVAA Online Submission Form

Drop-Off for the show will be Thursday, February 4th and Friday, February 5th from 4-6pm. Everything will then be set up Friday night so it’s ready to go for Saturday. Pick-up will be Sunday morning from 8-10am. If you can’t make that, email us to make other arrangements.

We need volunteers to help us hang the show from 5-6 on Friday and to take it down at 8:30 on Sunday. Please let us know if you’re available. There is a 20% commission on sales which will be forgiven for those who help out!

The music being performed on Sat the 6th will be:

Prokofiev: Romeo & Juliet
Tchaikovsky: Romeo & Juliet
Hanson: Symphony No. 2, “The Romantic”

We should aim to bring the best art in our libraries, to match the high quality of the performance. That being said, if you have two great pieces and one features a romantic theme then that might be a perfect one to choose!

Here’s the official Claflin Hill page with all details on the concert –

Black and White Show at Milford TV Station

Every two months we rotate the show at the Milford TV Station. The drop-off for the upcoming January-February 2016 show on the theme of “Black and White” is Thursday, January 7th from 6-8pm. Note that this is a week later than usual. Usually we do it on the last Thursday of the month, but we are moving it forward a week in this case to avoid New Year’s Eve.

This date is also the reception (and take down) for the existing “Small Works” show. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend!

Please bring food or drink to share!

The Milford TV Station is at 138 South Main Street.
