Claflin Hill Art Show – Holiday Pops

The BVAA, in conjunction with the Claflin Hill Symphony Orchestra, is offering a fun night of art and music! The orchestra provides the music while the BVAA provides the art!

On Saturday, December 12th from 7:30-10pm the Claflin Hill Symphony Orchestra will be performing a show. The BVAA will have art up for patrons to enjoy before the show and during intermission.

Anne McNevin is organizing the art for this show. Deadline to submit your titles and sizes via the online form is Monday, December 7th. This gives Anne time to determine how many panels will be needed. There’s no fee to participate.

BVAA Online Submission Form

Drop-Off for the show will be Thursday, December 10th and Friday, December 11th from 5-7pm. Everything will then be set up Friday night so it’s ready to go for Saturday. Pick-up will be Sunday morning from 8-10am. If you can’t make that, email Anne to make other arrangements.

The music being performed on Sat the 12th will be themed along timeless classics like “Sleigh Ride,” “Stille Nacht,” a holiday sing-along, and a visit from Jolly ol’ St. Nick. We should aim to bring the best art in our libraries, to match the high quality of the performance. That being said, if you have two great pieces and one features a Christmas theme then that might be a perfect one to choose!

DROPOFF DETAILS:

To get to to Milford Town Hall, 52 Main Street from Millbury take 140 S for around 10 miles. Take a slight left on West Street, which becomes Exchange Street. Turn left onto Main Street/MA-16 for about 2 1/2 miles. It’s a tall white steepled building very hard to miss. There are parking lots on either side of the bldg. as well as street parking.

You may enter by the side entrance where the handicapped ramp is, go in via the ramp and basement entrance and use the elevator to go to the second floor. Anne will have signs up around the building indicating where these are.

Tower Hill Winter Reimagined

Gorgeous lights and colors bring Tower Hill to a wintry wonderland. We’re going on a field trip this Thursday, December 3rd. The plan is to meet in the lobby at 5:30pm and then begin exploring. We’ll re-meet at Twigs (the cafe) at 7:30pm for warm-up and social.

Thank you to Dennis for suggesting this fun idea! He recommends a tripod and spare battery. He also suggests that bringing exact change, for those paying cash, is a help to the Tower Hill folks.

We’ll play with a variety of night photography ideas!

I’ve checked with my library and it doesn’t seem that passes are accepted for this event. Prices are:

Members: Free
Adults: $15
Seniors (65 and over): $10
Youth 6-18: $5
Children 5 and under: Free

Millbury Chain of Lights

It’s that time of year again! The 2015 Millbury Chain of Lights is upon us. It takes place on Sunday, December 6th from 11-4. The entire town is involved. Our art show is hosted by the Millbury Public Library.

Trolleys take passengers around from place to place, so we find the best sales happen with small, portable items. Of course, feel free to bring whatever you wish. There is no fee to participate and it’s not a judged show. This is primarily about sales and getting known by the participants of the festival.

Submissions should be done via our online form by midnight on Tuesday, December 1st.

Hanging is on Friday, December 4th from 4-6pm. The library closes at 6.

The library is open on Saturday 9-12, but Saturday is Sutton’s Chain of Lights so it’ll probably be quiet. We’ll have a watcher at the show just to keep an eye on things.

The main festivities come on Sunday, December 6th from 11-4. Normally the library is closed on Sundays but they’re making a special day of it with all sorts of events. Come on out and support the group! Be sure to visit the other places involved in the Chain festivities. You can get details at their Facebook page –

pickup is at the end of the day Sunday.

All BVAA members are welcome to participate!
