The BVAA’s Macabre Show is now live! Come by the Canal Restaurant between Oct 25, 2016 and Oct 31st (Halloween!!) to see the great images! Here is just a selection of what’s on show! The official reception is on Thursday, October 27th from 6-9pm – come on out!
President Bob Evans announced:
Lisa Shea presented a fun hands-on demonstration of Gelli printing.
We all had a blast at our print making session last night experimenting with making prints using acrylics and gelli plates!
It’s voting time! Here are all of the options for our 2017 calendar. Browse and enjoy!
Every BVAA member gets to vote for up to 13 images – one for each month plus one for the cover. Email us at info@bvaa.org with your choices. You can say which month you think each image would be good for or just choose your 13 favorites without assigning them to months – either way is fine. We’ll sort it out! Get those votes in by Tuesday, November 1st at midnight!
Note that it is perfectly fine to vote for your own images! Since each artist could only submit up to 5 images, that still leaves you with some votes left over to cast for other artists :).
The Alternatives Uxbridge location is holding their 2016 Tapestry event! This art show is open to all artists and celebrates the richness of our community.
You can submit up to three works to the show – only the first work will be judged. There are both youth (17 and under) and adult (18 and over) categories.
A paper form must be submitted by November 4, 2016 to enter.
Pieces must be submitted by November 4th to be judged.
Opening night is Friday, November 11th from 4-7pm.
The show will also be part of the Uxbridge First Night on Saturday, December 3.
Pickup is after December 23rd. Sales include a 20% commission.

Our monthly meeting for October is on Tuesday, October 18th, 2016 at the Northbridge Senior Center.
This month we’ll be playing with a hands-on demo and workshop in Gelli printing! These monoprints use acrylic paint and let you make one-off creations.
Wear clothes that can get a big messy and prepare for fun!
We did a number of hands-on workshops last year with Gelli plates and everyone had a blast. In essence these are the same things as gelatin plates that you can make yourself but they last longer and oddly they are even cheaper to buy than to make in most cases.
Lisa has a number of books on Gelli printing that she’ll bring to lend out.
Here’s photos from one of our previous smaller workshops –
