Art Feedback Workshop – Feb 2016

prove coloriOur February 16, 2016 monthly meeting will be all about creativity and feedback!

February often gets snowed out so we’re playing it casual this month. Bring along any paintings, sculptures, photos, or other works of art that you’re creating. We’ll offer feedback and suggestions! If you’re a photographer you can bring prints, laptops, cellphones, or whatever else you want. If you bring a USB thumb drive someone will be able to show your images off for you.

We can also work on artist’s statements for anyone who would like feedback on theirs.

Our monthly meetings are held at the Northbridge Senior Center at 20 Highland Street, Whitinsville, MA from 6:30-9pm on the third Tuesday of every month.

We’d love to see you there! Weather permitting, of course.

Anything Goes Photography Show Reception

Invite your family and friends! The 2016 Anything Goes photography show reception is coming up on Friday, January 15th, 2016 from 4-7pm!

This fun photography show is held at the Alterntives Uxbridge location at 1 South Main Street, Uxbridge from 4-7pm. There’ll be refreshments served!

We’ll have photography of all shapes and sizes. Digital photography. Film photography. Plastic camera photography. Cyanotypes. Come learn more about all of the styles of photography and be inspired!

Then mark your calendars for our open-to-the-public session on photography on Tuesday, January 19th. We’ll focus in on abstract and night photography and answer any questions you might have about your camera!

Featured image is by Al Weems, who won second prize in last year’s show. That’s just a taste of what you’ll see this Friday!

Hands-On Printmaking Session

We’ll host a hands-on printmaking session this coming Sunday, January 17th, 2016 from 2-4pm. It will either be at the Northbridge senior center or nearby, we’re still working that out. We were inspired by the Alternatives Printmaking opening reception last Friday and are preparing for the upcoming open-call printmaking show at the Attleboro Museum!

For even more inspiration, take a look through all the photos from November 2015’s demo with printmaster Randy LeSage –

Claflin Hill – From the Heart

The BVAA, in conjunction with the Claflin Hill Symphony Orchestra, is offering a fun night of art and music! The orchestra provides the music while the BVAA provides the art!

On Saturday, February 6th from 7:30-10pm the Claflin Hill Symphony Orchestra will be performing a show. The BVAA will have art up for patrons to enjoy before the show and during intermission.

Deadline to submit your titles and sizes via the online form is Monday, February 1st. This gives us time to determine how many panels will be needed. There’s no fee to participate.

BVAA Online Submission Form

Drop-Off for the show will be Thursday, February 4th and Friday, February 5th from 4-6pm. Everything will then be set up Friday night so it’s ready to go for Saturday. Pick-up will be Sunday morning from 8-10am. If you can’t make that, email us to make other arrangements.

We need volunteers to help us hang the show from 5-6 on Friday and to take it down at 8:30 on Sunday. Please let us know if you’re available. There is a 20% commission on sales which will be forgiven for those who help out!

The music being performed on Sat the 6th will be:

Prokofiev: Romeo & Juliet
Tchaikovsky: Romeo & Juliet
Hanson: Symphony No. 2, “The Romantic”

We should aim to bring the best art in our libraries, to match the high quality of the performance. That being said, if you have two great pieces and one features a romantic theme then that might be a perfect one to choose!

Here’s the official Claflin Hill page with all details on the concert –
