2016 2nd Annual Sutton Art Festival

Saturday, June 4, 2016 is the date for the Second Annual Sutton Art Festival!

This festival is held on Sutton Common – this is in between the Sutton Town Hall and the Sutton Congregational Church. It’s at the intersection of Boston Road and Singletary Ave. If you’re using a GPS, look for the Sutton Town Hall at 4 Uxbridge Road, Sutton MA to find its location.

The show will go on, rain or shine, so be sure to plan for this one!

The BVAA will have a booth here. There’ll be a raffle table as well!

Alternatives Palette Reception Mar 4

All the palettes have been delivered – and now it’s time for the celebration!

Alternatives in Whitinsville, MA has their opening reception for their 4th Annual Palette Show on Friday, March 4, 2016 from 4-8pm. Come vote on your favorite palette – the winners get cash prizes!

The way this show works is that all artists are provided with the exact same starting wood palette. They can then paint, decorate, cut, and rearrange their palette in any way they wish. The results are stunning!

Past Events – 2016 – Palette Show Alternatives

Worcester-Norfolk District Art Contest

State Senator Ryan C. Fattman is running an art contest for his Worcester-Norfolk district. Anyone who lives in the district can participate.

The theme is the district – anything representing the landscape, historical figures, wildlife, or other aspects. The art can be in most formats – paintings, photography, sculpture, etc.

To enter, send a 1mb JPG of the artwork to Benjamin.mitchell AT masenate.gov

The deadline is April 1, 2016.

Update from the Senator’s chief of staff:

The rights would be yours, and we would display the work through the year if possible. It would not be used for anything else other than display purposes. We don’t have a maximum size. We will leave it to your discretion.

All Things Animals! Show at Boston Children’s Museum

The Boston Children’s Museum has a call to art out on the theme “All Things Animals!” running September to November 2016.

Because this is a children’s museum all items must be kid-friendly. Any frames must be acrylic or Plexiglas – no actual glass.

All submissions must be in to the Boston Children’s Museum by May 1, 2016.

The selection process will be done by June 1, 2016.

Chosen works will be dropped off September 18-19, 2016.

Patterns Show at Attleboro Arts Museum

The Attleboro Arts Museum has a national call to artists out for their upcoming “Patterns” show.

Submissions must be done by CD or by hand-delivering the entry. They do not take any online submissions for this show.

CDs must be received by May 13th. Hand-delivered entries must arrive between May 20-21, 2016. Fee is $18/2 for museum members and $25/2 for non-members.

Show runs June 22 through July 22, 2016.

2016 Spring Bull Gallery Juried Photographic Exhibition

For the photographers out there!

The Spring Bull Gallery in Newport, RI is having a juried show all about photographs.

Film and digital, black and white and color.

They cannot be printed on canvas.

Works must be dropped off in person to be evaluated. Drop-off is February 27 – March 2, 2016.

If you’re not chosen to be in the show you pick yours up on March 4, 2016 – March 6, 2016.

Show runs March 5 thru March 30, 2016

2016 Norfolk Open Invitational

The 2016 Norfolk Open Invitational Art Show is being held at the Norfolk Library in Norfolk, MA. The show has a submission date of February 29, 2016. The show runs from March 28-April 3, 2016. The opening reception is April 9th from 5-7pm.

Payment is via check or money order only and must be postmarked by April 29th. Entry fee is $20 for one or $30 for two. They will let you know by March 19th if your submissions were accepted.

Pickup is April 30th from 9am to 11am.

Garden Party Nature Show at Attleboro Arts Museum

The Attleboro Arts Museum is having a Garden Party art show from March 17-20, 2016. Artists can submit up to 2 pieces and the museum guarantees at least one will be chosen. Fee is $20 for Museum members at $25 for non-members for one, and $30/$35 for two pieces.

The piece cannot have been shown at the Attleboro Arts Museum before. It must be a max of 36″ x 36″ including frame and under 100 pounds. The sales commission is 30% for members and 40% for non-members. There are cash prizes.

You drop off your actual physical artwork between March 3 and 5, 2016. Hours are 10-4. They’ll post which ones they accepted on their website and if one of yours wasn’t chosen you pick it up between March 10th and 12th.

The actual show is Thursday, March 17th through Sunday, March 20th, 2016.

Final pickup of exhibited works are March 20-23.

ArtsWorcester Show – Terra Firma

The next call to arts for ArtsWorcester, based in Worcester, MA, is for their Terra Firma show. The deadline for registration for this is Wednesday, April 27th, 2016.
