Congratulations to Libia Goncalves, Lisa Shea, and Bob See for being in the 2016 Attleboro Arts Museum Nature / Garden Show!

The flower show runs from March 17th to 20th, 2016. Hours are Thu to Sat 9:30-4pm and Sun 12-4pm. The reception is during the last hour of the show.

Cats Show at Worcester Art Museum

Here’s your chance to be showcased within the hallowed halls of the Worcester Art Museum!

The WAM is having an open call for artists for their upcoming “Cats” themed show.

The show runs from May 21 through September 4, 2016. The overall show is called “Meow” and as part of that they’ll have a Community Cats show aimed at the local constituency. It will help to support the Worcester Animal Rescue League. Local artists can submit a work with a donation of $10. That donation will be split between the WARL and the WAM’s educational wing.

If you wish to participate you have to submit your Intent to Participate by April 26, 2016 via snail-mail with a check for $10 (or more). It must be received by that date. You then bring your framed and wired piece to the WAM on May 13 from 10-4 or May 14 from 1-4. It must be within 48″ wide. They do accept sculptures and other styles of work – full details are on their site.

The reception is Sunday, May 22, 2016 from 1-3pm.

Pickup is July 30, 2016 from 1-4pm.

“Home” Show at Gallery 529 Littleton MA

The Gallery 529 in Littleton, MA is having an art show themed “Home” from April 1 through May 29, 2016. The show benefits the Habitat for Humanity.

Submissions must be emailed in to VWood AT gallery529.com between March 1 and March 15, 2016. Winners will be announced March 20, 2016.

The chosen artwork should be delivered to the gallery by March 31, 2016.

The opening reception is Friday, April 1st from 5-7pm.

Pickup is on May 29, 2016.

Entry fee is $10/1, $15/2, and $20/3 works.

2016 2nd Annual Sutton Art Festival

Saturday, June 4, 2016 is the date for the Second Annual Sutton Art Festival!

This festival is held on Sutton Common – this is in between the Sutton Town Hall and the Sutton Congregational Church. It’s at the intersection of Boston Road and Singletary Ave. If you’re using a GPS, look for the Sutton Town Hall at 4 Uxbridge Road, Sutton MA to find its location.

The show will go on, rain or shine, so be sure to plan for this one!

The BVAA will have a booth here. There’ll be a raffle table as well!

Alternatives Palette Reception Mar 4

All the palettes have been delivered – and now it’s time for the celebration!

Alternatives in Whitinsville, MA has their opening reception for their 4th Annual Palette Show on Friday, March 4, 2016 from 4-8pm. Come vote on your favorite palette – the winners get cash prizes!

The way this show works is that all artists are provided with the exact same starting wood palette. They can then paint, decorate, cut, and rearrange their palette in any way they wish. The results are stunning!

Past Events – 2016 – Palette Show Alternatives

Worcester-Norfolk District Art Contest

State Senator Ryan C. Fattman is running an art contest for his Worcester-Norfolk district. Anyone who lives in the district can participate.

The theme is the district – anything representing the landscape, historical figures, wildlife, or other aspects. The art can be in most formats – paintings, photography, sculpture, etc.

To enter, send a 1mb JPG of the artwork to Benjamin.mitchell AT masenate.gov

The deadline is April 1, 2016.

Update from the Senator’s chief of staff:

The rights would be yours, and we would display the work through the year if possible. It would not be used for anything else other than display purposes. We don’t have a maximum size. We will leave it to your discretion.

All Things Animals! Show at Boston Children’s Museum

The Boston Children’s Museum has a call to art out on the theme “All Things Animals!” running September to November 2016.

Because this is a children’s museum all items must be kid-friendly. Any frames must be acrylic or Plexiglas – no actual glass.

All submissions must be in to the Boston Children’s Museum by May 1, 2016.

The selection process will be done by June 1, 2016.

Chosen works will be dropped off September 18-19, 2016.

Patterns Show at Attleboro Arts Museum

The Attleboro Arts Museum has a national call to artists out for their upcoming “Patterns” show.

Submissions must be done by CD or by hand-delivering the entry. They do not take any online submissions for this show.

CDs must be received by May 13th. Hand-delivered entries must arrive between May 20-21, 2016. Fee is $18/2 for museum members and $25/2 for non-members.

Show runs June 22 through July 22, 2016.
